Services: Nassau Humane Society is dedicated to the humane treatment of all animals; to alleviate their suffering and neglect, to support the human-animal bond, and to foster an environment in which people respect all living creatures. Provide rescue and control as a lifeline to animals in need and for the necessary protection of our community. Encourage and provide for pet adoption, animal-assisted therapy, pet care education, outreach spay and neuter program and other welfare efforts.

Services: Only assists with partial payments for rent. Provides assistance with Rent/Mortgage (must provide copy of current lease agreement), New Housing (Assistance with first month’s rent only, and the rental and electrical deposit must be paid beforehand), Utilities (first referred to other agency for assistance. If help is not available, must provide past due notice from utility company and copy of rental agreement for aid from Barnabas. Deposits and late fees are not paid).

Services: Provides adequate housing for Nassau County residents who meet specific housing and income guidelines. Applicants need to be able to pay for their home (i.e. down payment, mortgage payments, participate in building house).

Services: Provides home repairs that can reduce utility bills, lower energy consumption, and correct structural issues. Repairs comply with local building code standards. Programs include Weatherization (repairs to decrease gas/electric bills), Community Development Block Grant (correct issues that can threaten health, safety, and security of homeowner), State Housing Initiatives Partnership (assistance to repair homes), and Home Ownership (financial education and career development to enhance a person’s ability to own a home). Also provides emergency assistance with utilities.
