Storm Causes Sewage Back-Up in St. Marys Home
A severe thunderstorm caused a sewage back-up in this St. Marys, GA, home. Unfortunately, the toilet in one bathroom had been removed for remodeling, leaving a hole in the floor, and so the intruding sewage water impacted the entire first floor of the home. When the homeowner called, SERVPRO Fernandina Beach/Yulee/North Jacksonville wasted no time in getting to the scene. Floors, baseboards, and two feet of drywall had to be replaced, as well as all of the home’s contents. The affected area was treated with anti-microbial disinfectants.
A word of caution: Sewer backups should be considered an emergency since the water may contain viruses, bacteria, and other microbes that cause serious illnesses. SERVPRO Franchise Professionals have specialized training and equipment to quickly and safely clean contaminants like sewage.
